Linkin Park Remembers Chester Bennington
Written by Abigail Russell
The music world was shaken to its core when it lost Chester Bennington on July 20, 2017.
The lead singer of Linkin Park took his own life after a lifelong struggle with depression, leaving his family, friends, and fans devastated by his absence. However, Linkin Park has decided to honor his life today as they recognize the one-year anniversary of Chester’s death.
Dave “Phoenix” Farrell, the bassist for Linkin Park, wrote an incredibly touching open letter to Chester on his Instagram. The band also started the Twitter hashtag #MakeChesterProud as a way of promoting mental health. Chester’s passing was a tragic end to his incredible life, but the Linkin Park community is using it as an opportunity to start conversations about mental health and encourage those with similar struggles.
