The last time Evanescence set foot on an Amsterdam stage, it was alongside Dutch pride Within Temptation for their massive co-headlining Worlds Collide Tour. Returning to a completely sold-out Ziggo Dome for their own standalone headline date, the anticipation in the room was soaring long before the house lights dropped. Dedicated fans of all generations packed the arena, eager for a night that promised to blend nostalgic gothic rock with a bold look into the band’s future.
When Evanescence took the stage, it was immediately clear that they weren’t holding back on production value. The band brought a top-tier visual experience complete with massive screen projections, dramatic lighting, and a heavily executed display of pyrotechnics and confetti that lit up the entire arena floor during key dramatic peaks.
Musically, the setlist leaned heavily toward their brand-new 2026 record, Sanctuary. Nearly half of the songs performed were fresh material, and live, these tracks sounded phenomenal. The new arrangements gave the band’s signature symphonic metal a refreshed, modern weight that resonated brilliantly through the arena speakers.
The absolute high-water mark of the dynamic stage show came when Poppy joined Evanescence for a stunning live rendition of End Of You. The vocal dynamic and chemistry between Amy Lee and Poppy was an absolute treat to witness, proving to be one of the standout moments of the entire evening.
Frontwoman Amy Lee remains an undeniable force of nature on stage. While a few of the iconic, older tracks proved to be a bit rough on her vocal range at times, her sheer passion and raw emotional output completely compensated for it. The rest of the band sounded as tight and locked-in as ever. A special shoutout goes to Emma Anzai (formerly best known for her role in Sick Puppies), whose ferocious bass presence and backing vocals bring an incredible, grounding energy to the lineup; she is always a pure joy to watch perform live.
The audience’s enthusiasm throughout the show was unwavering, but it escalated to a deafening level when the band rolled out their biggest classics. Anthems like Bring Me To Life and My Immortal triggered massive sing-alongs, with thousands of voices echoing back every single word to the stage, and unfortunately the same can be said for the number of smartphones that were used to film the performance, as if there aren’t already millions of POVs of the band performing this iconic track on YouTube.
Evanescence proved once again why they remain titans of the scene, delivering a well-balanced show that honoured their roots while enthusiastically stepping into their new era.
