Following their recent historic triumph in the UK, rock legends My Chemical Romance have officially earned their first-ever No. 1 album on the US Billboard 200 with the 20th anniversary deluxe reissue of The Black Parade.
The landmark record rocketed from No. 139 all the way to the top spot, earning 78,000 equivalent album units in the US over the past week, a massive 653% increase, fueled by 68,000 pure physical album sales.
Originally released in 2006, the album famously debuted at No. 2 upon its initial arrival, held off the top spot by the Hannah Montana soundtrack. Two decades later, the reissue has finally sealed the apex position, completing a transatlantic double chart victory after securing the UK No. 1 earlier in the week.
The massive chart news arrives as the band recently wrapped up the US leg of their Long Live The Black Parade tour with a series of high-profile headline shows at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl.
The official top position on the Billboard 200 locks in the band’s first overall US chart-topper.
