Green Day Re-release Dookie On Obscure Formats

Green Day are celebrating the 30th anniversary of their groundbreaking album Dookie in the most unconventional way yet. After releasing a deluxe edition and performing the album on tour, the band have teamed up with BRAIN to launch DOOKIE DEMASTERED—a collection of the iconic 1994 album’s songs on formats they were definitely never meant to be heard on.

In true punk fashion, DOOKIE DEMASTERED throws all expectations out the window. Forget high-definition vinyl or remastered CDs—how about listening to Welcome to Paradise on a Game Boy cartridge, or Pulling Teeth on a toothbrush? Yes, you read that right. A toothbrush.

A press release from the band states: “Instead of smoothing out its edges and tweaking its dynamic ranges, this version of Dookie has been meticulously mangled to fit on formats with uncompromisingly low fidelity, from wax cylinders to answering machines to toothbrushes. The listening experience is unparalleled, sacrificing not only sonic quality but also convenience, and occasionally entire verses. It’s Dookie, the way it was never meant to be heard.”

Fans can look forward to:

  • 1. Burnout – Player Piano Roll
  • 2. Having A Blast – Floppy Disk
  • 3. Chump – Teddy Ruxpin
  • 4. Longview – Doorbell
  • 5. Welcome To Paradise – Game Boy Cartridge
  • 6. Pulling Teeth – Toothbrush
  • 7. Basket Case – Big Mouth Billy Bass
  • 8. She – HitClip
  • 9. Sassafras Roots – 8-track
  • 10. When I Come Around – Wax Cylinder
  • 11. Coming Clean – X-Ray Record
  • 12. Emenius Sleepus – Answering Machine
  • 13. In The End – MiniDisc
  • 14. F.O.D. – Fisher Price Record
  • 15. All By Myself – Music Box

For those daring enough to experience Dookie in these obscure formats, there’s an opportunity to enter a raffle to win one of the limited-edition physical versions. The raffle closes on Friday, October 11th at 8am PT. You can enter here.

So, if you’ve ever wanted to jam out to Dookie while brushing your teeth or summon Green Day through your doorbell, now’s your chance. Just remember, sonic quality may be sacrificed—but that’s all part of the fun.

CONCERT REVIEW: Imminence Succeed To Captivate Amsterdam On The Black Tour

After an evening of battling Amsterdam’s notorious Saturday traffic, we barely made it to Melkweg just in time for Imminence’s headline show on The Black Tour. With no time to catch any of the support acts, we dove headfirst into the immersive world of the Swedish metalcore quintet. This tour, promoting their latest album The Black, which dropped in April, promised a night filled with their signature blend of symphonic elements and crushing heaviness—and it absolutely delivered.

Right from the start, Eddie Berg’s haunting vocals and piercing violin grabbed the audience by the throat. Berg’s dual role as both frontman and violinist added a unique complexion to the performance, with the violin weaving seamlessly through the thick layers of guitar and bass, creating moments of eerie beauty.

From there, Imminence took us on a journey through a setlist that showcased the full emotional depth and power of their latest album. Tracks like Beyond the Pale and Death by a Thousand Cuts hit with relentless force.

While the heavier tracks had the audience thrashing, it was the slower, more melodic moments that truly captivated. Continuum, with its delicate balance of clean vocals and brutal growls, was a standout, pushing the band’s sound in new, darker directions. The combination of Berg’s clean singing and his tortured screams felt raw and intimate, especially in the way it blended with the symphonic backdrop provided by his violin.

Speaking of backdrops, the decor the band brought was spectacular, with the stage set to mimic the eerie backdrop of “The Black Church”. This vibe was magnified by the moment Eddie Berg took the stage, draped in a monk-like black hood and the atmosphere transformed into a dark, almost spiritual experience. The visuals added an extra layer to the already immersive performance, immediately pulling the audience into a deeply emotional space.

The evening reached its climax with The Black, the title track that encapsulates the album’s themes of despair and resilience. With every note, the band built a sense of finality, leaving the audience breathless.

Moreover, the band’s precise musicianship and visually striking stage production showed their dedication to creating an experience that went beyond just the music—it was a full sensory immersion. From the intense lighting to the haunting violin solos, every element added depth to the performance, making it feel like more than a typical metalcore show. It’s clear that Imminence are pushing to become one of the leading names in modern metalcore, and The Black Tour is playing a big role in helping them reach that status.

Three Days Grace Complete

Three Days Grace Reunite With Original Vocalist Adam Gontier

Three Days Grace have officially reunited with their original vocalist, Adam Gontier, following weeks of fan speculation sparked by cryptic online posts. The Canadian rock band confirmed the news, marking Gontier’s return after his initial departure in 2013. This reunion brings a fresh dynamic to the lineup, as Gontier will be joining alongside current vocalist and guitarist Matt Walst in a five-member powerhouse.

The exciting news was revealed yesterday (October 2nd), when the band shared a casual voicemail from Gontier to Walst on their social media channels. In the message, Gontier says, “Hey Matt, it’s Adam. I’m just running a few minutes behind, but I will be at the studio soon. If you could just let everybody know.” This playful message sent fans into a frenzy, especially considering Gontier had already participated in live performances with the band earlier in 2023, rekindling nostalgia with classic hits like Hate Everything About You and Never Too Late.

Now, it’s official: Gontier is back as a full-time member, joining a lineup that includes Matt Walst, bassist Brad Walst, lead guitarist Barry Stock, and drummer Neil Sanderson. Despite the changes, the band assures fans that their synergy hasn’t missed a beat. “It’s like we got back in a room together and picked up where we left off,” Gontier shared in a statement. “We’ve been friends for so long, it’s kind of natural to get back together.”

Walst, who has been with the band since Gontier’s departure, expressed his excitement about the new chapter. “It’s been so much fun and inspiring making this record. Combining over 20 years of Three Days Grace and doing something that no band has ever done. I’m excited for the fans to hear it!”

Three Days Grace, originally formed as Groundswell in 1992 by Gontier, Sanderson, and Brad Walst, later adopted their iconic name in 1997. With a series of chart-topping hits and a string of successful albums, their reunion with Gontier promises a bold new direction for the band. Fans can anticipate new music and a tour announcement in the near future.

The band’s most recent album, Explosions, was released in 2022, and it seems that the next era for Three Days Grace are poised to be bigger than ever.
