Melanie Martinez has officially started a new chapter in her career. After a period of social media silence, the singer has shared a cryptic post that appears to tease her upcoming project. The post features a haunting image of Melanie Martinez holding a wooden mannequin that is on fire, accompanied by what fans believe are lyrics to a new song.

Fans on social media have identified the track as POSSESSION. The lyrics shared in the post include lines like “baby I’m your possession” and “handle me like a weapon,” suggesting a theme of control and manipulation. This new aesthetic follows the conclusion of her PORTALS era and marks the introduction of a new character named Circle.

The single POSSESSION is expected to be the first release from a larger project. Melanie Martinez previously confirmed that she would be releasing new music in 2026, which may include a double album. This new era seems to move away from her past stories like Cry Baby and K-12 to explore a more dystopian and artificial world.
