Mike Flanagan’s ‘The Midnight Club’ Has Guinness World Record For Jump Scares

Earlier this week, Mike Flanagan‘s latest horror series The Midnight Club has been released on Netflix.

The first episode of the new show has made a Guinness World Record. The pilot titled The Final Chapter has made a record amount of jump scares, which would now be 21.

However, the jump scares are put in there ironically, to address the overuse of jump scares in movies today.

Director Flanagan told Deadline:

“I thought, ‘We’re going to do all of them at once, and then if we do it right, a jump scare will be rendered meaningless for the rest of the series.’ It’ll just destroy it. Kill it finally until it’s dead, But that didn’t happen. They were like, ‘Great! More [scares]!’”
