In a recent interview with E! News, Lin-Manuel Miranda, writer of Disney‘s Encanto‘s soundtrack, has revealed that he would like to turn Encanto into a Broadway Show.

"I think it weirdly lends itself well. They don’t always, you know? Like, I can’t picture a Moana Broadway musical. I don’t know how you’d do the ocean."

"My first draft of the last song in the movie, ‘All of You,’ was like seven minutes long. It was so late in production that they were like, ‘Lin, we won’t make the movie in time. You actually have to cut this down.’ So I’ve got the Broadway finale like in the chamber."

He doesn’t just stop at the idea of a Broadway show, but also reveals that he’d want to contribute to the expansion of the Encanto universe through a sequel or Disney+ series:

"There’s so many stories in that house, that it would be wonderful to expand on it.

Honestly, all of the ideas above sound pretty plausible as the movie is breaking records left and right, especially with its soundtrack.

It has even been nominated for three Oscars at the 2022 Academy Awards.

Best Animated Feature, Best Original Score and Best Original Song for Dos Oruguitas.
