INTERVIEW: Chase Atlantic Talk New Album 'LOST IN HEAVEN'

Chase Atlantic’s highly anticipated new album ‘LOST IN HEAVEN’ is out today (November 1st), marking their first release in three years. Fans have eagerly awaited this album since their previous record ‘Beauty In Death’, and it is clear after a first listen that the wait was worth it.

‘LOST IN HEAVEN’ captures everything that makes Chase Atlantic unique, showcasing a more mature sound that reflects the band’s evolution over the years. The songs talk about personal struggles, with the entire album drawing inspiration from real-life challenges.

To celebrate the launch, we caught up with band member Christian Anthony (guitar, vocals) to dive deeper into the album’s story and creative process.

– You are back with your new album ‘LOST IN HEAVEN’ after 3 years since ‘Beauty In Death’. When did you start to work on this new record?

We officially started in February 2024. But some of the songs and ideas have been with us since our first album. We locked ourselves away in a studio in North Hollywood for 3 months to write and conceptualise the album. Then we spent the next few months perfecting the sound.

– What do you think makes ‘LOST IN HEAVEN’ different from your previous albums?

I think it’s a more mature sound. First time we have used older instrumentals and the first time we have used AI technology to separate stems from older songs. Sonically and lyrically it’s a lot more vulnerable than previously. But it’s also very honest.

– What was your main inspiration for this album and which emotions did you want to convey with it?

It was real life that inspired the album. Individual issues. Loneliness, depression and fear are all part of this record. The idea of being exactly where we want to be in life. But still miserable.

– Why did you go for the title ‘LOST IN HEAVEN’?

The idea behind LOST IN HEAVEN is being exactly where you want to be in your life but still feeling lost and out of your depth.

– Is there a song that stands out to you as a potential fan favorite or one that you’re particularly excited for people to hear?

I think they will all be fan favorites. I love the story behind ‘RICOCHET’. We were locked in a cabin in Lake Tahoe during the worst winter storm in a century. The song is about us surviving in those conditions and the strain it put on our personal relationships.

– Which song of the album took the longest to write and why?

Hours Lost and Amy took the longest.

Hours lost is such a personal song for Mitchel so I know he found it hard to be so vulnerable in a song.

Amy took a long time as well because we had such high hopes for the song that we really took our time with it.

– Which lyric from the new album means the most to you?

“She said take it easy otherwise I’m leaving, I don’t wanna stay and watch you die”

It’s a very personal story but this holds a lot of meaning.

– Which song/s from the album are you most excited to play live and which ones do you think will get the best crowd reaction?

I think a lot of the new songs are getting great reactions. But I’m very excited for the fans to learn all the lyrics so they can sing with us. I’d say DIE FOR ME has been the best since it’s the opening song.
