CONCERT REVIEW: As December Falls Close Out Tour In Nottingham Rescue Rooms

Last night Nottingham’s own As December Falls closed out their October tour with a home-town show at Rescue Rooms. Having just completed a festival-filled summer, and a completely sold-out tour for their album Happier., in December 2021, As December Falls are on unstoppable form. Support came from The Tyne and Led By Lanterns, a real display of up-and-coming British talent, which kicked off the night perfectly.

Tonight, you can really feel them coming into their own, playing their biggest headline shows to date, their performance, sound and how they connect with the audience is going from strength to strength. Less than a year ago, they were playing a sold-out show down the road to 220 people, tonight 450 people have come down to a packed-out Rescue Rooms.

As December Falls have always been huge advocates of doing it themselves, from releasing records independently to doing, well, all the behind scenes work themselves, they have managed to build an incredible relationship with their fans. It might be the added home-town show vibes, but the moment they step on stage you can feel the love between the band and the audience, the atmosphere is one you’d hope for at every show.

Starting strong with tracks Go Away and Afterglow, we were then treated to an emo classic, with an MCR cover of I’m Not Okay (I Promise). ADF are an absolute powerhouse of a band, bringing the energy with each track. For a rare moment, things slow down as they perform Happier., lead singer Bethany Curtis, showcasing her amazing vocal talent.

It’s always hit or miss when artists try out new material on a crowd, this time it’s definitely a huge success, the crowd responding to Mayday, like they’d known it for years. The entire band look like they’re having the time of their life on stage, putting everything into this performance. It’s a strong end to the night, with huge singalongs for No Money and tour one-off, Zombie. They also gave a special nod to Nottingham with the song Ride.

Of course, the end of tour doesn’t mean they’re slowing down, As December Falls kick off the EU leg of their tour next week! Make sure you check out their new single Mayday, coming out Friday, 21st of October, with news of their 3rd studio album to follow.
