At their show in Arizona tonight, The Word Alive farewelled drummer Luke Holland who is departing the band to “explore other musical endeavors and pursue passions outside of The Word Alive”.
.
As this was the last show where Luke would be drumming for them, The Word Alive singer Telle Smith shared some thoughts about Luke on stage.

“When Luke joined this band he was 18 years old. And I don’t know who it was, but one of our fans posted on my Facebook page. They knew we were looking for a drummer and they were like ‘Check this kid out, he’s pretty good’. And I was like ‘You know what, I’ll try him out, he looks real cute, you know.’ So I checked out the video. And I knew in that second, I knew the first time I ever watched him play drums, that if we were lucky enough to have him be in our band it would make all of us better and we would do something that I feel is eternally special for our band. And that is what we did. So Luke, we love you!”

The band then got a photo together with the audience behind them. Luke has been with The Word Alive since 2013.

Once a family, always a family.
