Both anxiety and depression have been and continue to be a big part of the alternative music scene we’re all so fond of. Many artists often write about these feelings, whether it’s about them or the fans.

Ashley Dun has been working on a blog for a while now which centres around depression an anxiety and she tries to create a safe place for poeple who, like herself, think and feel sometimes more than they can handle.

Last week she published another blogpost mentioning she has started a project with her friend Jesse Cale called “Secret Midnight Press”.

With this Ashley and Jesse want to encourage people to use their creativity like they did. They both have released a book. “Smoke Signals” by Ashley Dun and “Mentha Spicaga El Corazon!” by Jesse Cale.

We fully endorse this message and want to spread positivity all over the world. They told us this is only the beginning of the story so keep your eyes open and follow them on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook!

With all of these kind words swirling around in my head, i finally had the courage to begin writing a book of poems nearly two years ago. i’ve been slowly adding and editing and knitting these words together to create something warm for you to hold during the cold nights.

these poems aren’t all rays of sunshine, in fact, most of them are not. but they’re real, they’re honest, and hopefully they’ll make you feel a little less alone.

sometimes the weight of life feels too heavy, and when that happens i write. and the pain dims, even if just slightly.

it has kept me alive through the darkest times.

– Ashley
