The Edge’s Music Rising charity, which provided new instruments to musicians in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and restored school music programs in areas affected by Hurricane Sandy, is now focusing its efforts on raising funds for Hurricane Harvey relief.

Bono spoke about his U2 bandmate;s initiative in a Monday morning interview with Mix 104.1.

“You might recall that Edge – when Hurricane Katrina did its damage to New Orleans and destroyed the lives of so many musicians there – he put together Music Rising. And it was a really clever way of getting the musicians of the area some instruments so they could continue to live,” Bono said.

“Edge has been in discussion now to do the same in Houston,” he said. “And you know, we have private ways that we will respond, but publicly that’s what we’re doing.

Donations to those affected by Harvey can now be made on the Music Rising website. The Edge co-founded the program with Gibson Guitar CEO Henry Juszkiewicz and producer Bob Ezrin in 2005.
