It’s been a minute since we first caught I Prevail in a live setting. Way back in 2019, the band made their iconic debut on the European continent at Rock am Ring. Even tucked away in a mid-afternoon slot, the turnout for the Michigan outfit was nothing short of astonishing. A sea of dedicated listeners crowded the stage early in the day. Sitting down with the band for an interview immediately following that stellar set sealed the deal: we were hooked for life. Fast-forward through years of steady growth, relentless touring, and heavy releases, and we found ourselves once again eager to witness the Detroit powerhouse live, this time taking on the stage at Poppodium 013 in Tilburg to perform in front of three thousand of fans in support of their heavy-hitting 2025 record, Violent Nature.
Given the recent line-up shifts, there was naturally a sense of anticipation in the air regarding how the classic material would translate to the live environment. As it turns out, Dylan Bowman has far more up his sleeve than just holding down the rhythm guitar; his vocal delivery was seamless and deeply impressive. Sharing the frontman spotlight with Eric Vanlerberghe, the duo makes for an absolute force on vocal duties, trading off explosive screams and pristine melodies with effortless chemistry. Safe to say, I Prevail sound as tight, massive, and commanding as ever on this current run.
While the primary mission of the tour is celebrating Violent Nature, the setlist offered a remarkably well-balanced journey through their expanding discography. 2022’s fan-favourite album TRUE POWER took the lion’s share of the night with five tracks, seamlessly blending into the newer material. Of course, no I Prevail experience is complete without honoring their roots, and the set made room for the cover song that started it all: their heavy metal spin on Taylor Swift’s Blank Space. Sitting at an astounding 186 million streams on Spotify alone, it served as the original entry point for so many who are now dedicated long-time fans. Yet, when Vanlerberghe paused between tracks to ask how many people were seeing the band for the very first time, a surprisingly massive portion of the room raised their hands, an undeniable testament to the fact that, even in this new era, I Prevail’s momentum is still surging upward.
Visually, the production was a refreshing shift from modern metalcore norms. Stepping away from the wall-to-wall LED panel setups that have dominated high-tier touring rigs in recent years, the band opted for a classic approach, featuring a striking banner backdrop that placed the spotlight squarely on the musicianship and raw performance. That isn’t to say they skimped on the spectacle, however. When the production team undoubtedly asked the band how much pyro they wanted to bring into these European venues, I Prevail clearly answered with a resounding “Yes.” The sheer amount of pyrotechnics packed onto the stage, from sudden wall-of-fire hits to sustained heat waves radiating across the pit, was utterly unparalleled.
All in all, this show proved to be another absolute career highlight for I Prevail. Beyond how musically locked-in they are from start to finish, their stage charisma remains top-tier. Vanlerberghe’s playful, genuine banter between songs bridges the gap between an arena-level powerhouse and the audience, making a room as large as 013 feel intimate and connected. Fresh off the heels of Violent Nature and their 2026 collaborative single Paradise with Amira Elfeky, which is already making massive waves as it currently sits at number 1 on their own Spotify, it feels as though we might be standing on the threshold of yet another defining chapter for the band. Time will tell where this momentum takes them next, but one thing is certain: whenever they land back on Dutch soil, we’ll be right there in the front row to capture it all.
