Variety has exclusively revealed that horror-comedy The Blackening is set for a sequel following its impressive $18 million performance in theaters earlier this year.
The production companies MRC and Lionsgate are in talks with Dewayne Perkins, Tracy Oliver, and producer E. Brian Dobbins to develop the follow-up film.
With the first installment’s modest $5 million budget, the potential for this to evolve into a profitable horror franchise is evident.
Directed by Tim Story and featuring a star-studded cast, including Antoinette Robertson and Jermaine Fowler, The Blackening 2 is eagerly anticipated as details emerge.
