Metallica Win The 27th Polar Music Prize

The Polar Music Prize is turning 27 this year and it has been announced that this year’s winner  is Metallica, together with The Afghanistan National Institue of Music with its founder and director Dr. Ahmad Sarmast.

Drummer Lars Ulrich had the following to say about winning the award:

​“Receiving the Polar Music Prize is an incredible thing. It puts us in very distinguished company. It’s a great validation of everything that Metallica has done over the last 35 years. At the same time, we feel like we’re in our prime with a lot of good years ahead of us. Thank you very much.”

​Thursday June 14th is the day that the Award show will happend at Stockholm’s Grand Hôtel, broadcasted live on Swedish national tv.
