Millie Bobby Brown Wins Award, Responds To Homophobic Memes
Not only have there been a lot of fake stories going around about her being homophobic and rude towards fans, people even took it so far as to photoshop homophobic tweets and snaps to make them look like they were coming from her – for fun.
Things got out of hand to the point that she was forced to turn off the comments on her Instagram account and delete her Twitter account.
Now when she was honoured at the MTV Movie & TV Awards and won the award for Best Performance in a show, Millie Bobby Brown, who couldn’t attend the ceremony due to a knee injury, had a video message ready.
In this message, the 14-year-old actress gives her acceptance speech for winning the award, but also makes a clear statement against bullying:
“Since I know there are many young people watching this — and even for the adults, too — they could probably use the reminder that I was taught: if you don’t have anything nice to say, just don’t say it.”
“There should be no space in this world for bullying, and I’m not going to tolerate it, and neither should any of you. If you need a reminder of how worthy you are and to rise above the hate, message me on Instagram.”
