CONCERT REVIEW: Electric Callboy & Friends Set Rotterdam Ablaze on Opening Night of Massive TANZNEID World Tour

Their biggest tour yet, as the members of Electric Callboy call their massive TANZNEID World Tour, spreading over four continents. The first show of 2026 takes place in Rotterdamโ€™s RTM Stage, and what a show it is.

As the venue fills with thousands of fans, WARGASM kicks off straight away with banger Bad Seed and clearly succeeds to get crowd up to temperature within minutes. Up next, Vigilantes and PYRO PYRO. A few notes in, as Sam Matlock waves his arms to stop the music. Jokingly, he expresses his dissatisfaction with the circle pit being too mild. The music kicks back in, and his humorous request clearly got across, as circle pits spawn all over the place.

Milkie Way seductively locks in the crowd with Small World Syndrome, followed by D.R.I.L.D.O, as Sam flings his microphone around like a fire spinner. Their grimy and steamy signature portrayal gets once again established with their final songs Spit. and Do It So Good, ending with a massive grunt and Sam spraying the remainder of his water bottle over the crowd.

After a short changeover, the place goes dark. A Purge-esque warning message appears on the big screens. Itโ€™s Bury Tomorrow, urging the crowd not to hold back on their next set. And they definitely donโ€™t. Choke starts playing, followed by DEATH (Ever Colder), and mosh pits appear everywhere. Stroboscopic blinders light up the crowd, leaving only a faint silhouette of the band members to be witnessed. An adrenaline-induced atmosphere can be felt during their next song Cannibal.

Then ,lead singer Daniel Winter-Bates gives the crowd an opportunity to take a breath, thanking them for coming to Rotterdam and having a chat about safety and inclusion. Boltcutter starts playing as fans put their arms around their neighbours. Green lights pierce the smoke like fog in a gloomy forest, after which the heavy grunts of Let Go and Villain Arc roar through the venue. Absolute bangers like What If I Burn, Black Flame and of course Abandon Us conclude the set, leaving the crowd perfectly warmed up for the next big thing.

With a loud bang, the curtains drop, and Electric Callboyโ€™s TANZNEID starts playing. A perfect choreography of music, fireworks, smoke and lights straight away confirms the world-class quality Electric Callboy have successfully been aiming for.

To get the โ€“ already perfectly dialled in โ€“ crowd even more involved, a cover of Still Waiting is up next with absolutely everyone chanting along. Hereafter, fans are tasked with making the very important choo choo sound in order to summon the Tekkno Train. A quick change of clothes brings us to the 80โ€™s with Hypa Hypa, followed by MC Thunder. A jumbotron-like piece of art shaped as an X levitates above the stage, as glitter confetti pops out over the crowd while millions of calories are collectively being burned as Neon and Pump It play.

A short Electric Bassboy intermission with Hurrikan and signature edits of songs like All The Small Things and Let The Bodies Hit The Floor gives some perfect variety to an already pretty diverse setlist so far.

Up next, their new single Revery, followed by the absolute classics Hate/Love, Mindreader and Monsieur Moustache. Then, all band members but drummer Frank Zummo get off stage. A gigantic virtual robot appears on the videowall behind the drummer, as the duo proceeds to have an interactive drum duet.

Hereafter, the spotlight shines into the middle of the crowd, and Kevin Ratajczak has taken his place behind a piano surrounded by fans. A heartfelt acoustic version of Fuckboi and Everytime We Touch follows, after which the band takes over and finishes the song, opening a wall of death, which Kevin cleverly uses to make his way back. MC Thunder II (Dancing Like a Ninja) and Elevator Operator seem to conclude the night with some more astounding fireworks and loud bangs.

A few minutes of ominous rumbling later, hinting at an inevitable encore, the BABYMETAL bandmembers virtually appear on stage as the Electric Callboy bandmembers once again emerge on stage to perform their part of the RATATATA collaboration, followed by Spaceman and We Got the Moves, sending the crowd out buzzing.

Anyone unable to make it to Rotterdam, luckily, gets a redo later this summer as Electric Callboy, Bury Tomorrow, WARGASM and even BABYMETAL all make their way to plenty of festivals in the area.
