An Old Friend is an alternative rock band from Long Island, New York consisting of Eddy Barrera (guitar/vocals), Cory Brown (bass), Cody Kohler (vocals/guitar), and Frank Facompre (drums.) Unlike some bands, this band writes their songs as a collective.

After forming in 2011 , they created their first EP in 2013 with Quiet Drive. They then released a series of singles as music videos for songs like “Scavenger Hunt”, “Fragments & Blurs”, and “They Feed On Me At Night.” Now the band is back at it again with their newest EP, I Am, I Was.

Off of that EP, the band released a music video for “Lady”, and we’re told the story of a not-so-romantic date. With lyrics like, “But if it isn’t worth risking your feelings / Then I still owe you that conversation,” and “If I can’t see all of it / Then maybe I should learn to try to and forget, forget this,” the song is talking about one of the most common topics in music, heartbreak. This song is about that awkward situation of being in the right place at the wrong time, but still holding onto hope.

Filmed in a remote studio loft in Brooklyn, the camera goes to each member’s facial expression, where viewers see their looks of emotional uncertainty. The point of that is so each of their facial expressions match lyrics of the underlying disconnect in the relationship of the story that’s being told.

By the end of the video, they let go of the person they once knew along with their misunderstood picture.
