Gerard Way Pithed A TV Show Before “The Umbrella Academy”

Recently, the Netflix show adaption of ex-My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way’s comic “The Umbrella Academy” came online.

Apparently, this wasn’t the singer’s first television show pitch!

In 2001, before My Chemical Romance was found, he created a kid’s show with Joe Boyle and pitched it to Cartoon Network. 

It was called “The Breakfast Monkey” and it was about a Scandinavian monkey chef who wanted to share the importance of breakfast. 

Because of similarities to Cartoon Network’s show Aqua Teen Hunger Force, they rejected the show.

However, if they would have gone for it, maybe Gerard Way would have been too busy for My Chemical Romance..
