In a recent interview, Oliver Sykes has given a (long overdue) update on what the status on new Bring Me The Horizon music is.

Back in 2015, Bring Me The Horizon released their fifth studio album “That’s The Spirit”, which was followed by a ruthless touringcycle, which took the band to most of the continents more  than once.

In the recent interview with Kerrang!, frontman Oliver Sykes shared that new music is most definitely in the making and he’s hoping that we’ll get to hear new music before the end of the year.

The band has about 30 song ideas floating around, with all of them in different stages of completion, and it goes without saying that the new music will once again have a different sound than previous records.

Here’s what he shared:
“I kind of know where I want to go, but it’s also falling into place as we write the thing. We want it to be different and we want to push forward. We like the idea of breaking into the mainstream. We’re not ashamed of that, we don’t see it as selling out. We see it as a great challenge, to make music that can be adored by more people but still retain who we are. That is the goal.”

Sykes also shows his appreciation towards Twenty One Pilots, saying that they are a band who are “popular and accessible, but without compromising their integrity or who they are. That’s a real challenge now.”

We couldn’t agree more, Oliver Sykes!
