As a performer, you know that sometimes things are just bound to go wrong.

Metallica frontman James Hetfield was not-so-gently reminded of that fact last night when he took a fall on stage during the show.

The band was playing the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam last night (September 4th), including the track “Now That We’re Dead” from the bands latest record “Hardwired… to Self-Destruct” in their live set.

During that track, several parts of the custom made and unique stage set up, which is constantly shifting throughout the show, were lowered and Hetfield fell into the gap hitting his face on the stage as he went.

After being helped back up by two crew members, Hetfield managed to get back on his feet (both literally and figuratively speaking) and continue the eventful show which later turned out to include the band performing a cover of the Diamond Head track “Am I Evil?”, a song they previously hadn’t played live for 2 years.

You can check out some footage of the fall below.
