If you have watched the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ movies, you are well familiar with ‘Groot’, the extraterrestrial tree-like creature.
At the end of the movie, Groot sacrifices himself to save the rest.

However, at the very end we see a small Groot in a pot and most of us thought that a part of him grew into a new form.

However, James Gunn, director of both the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, has shared the fact that Baby Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is actually first Groot’s son and Groot actually died.

Baby Groot has a different personality, a different body and no memories of adult Groot whatsoever.
“Adult Groot’s sacrifice actually meant something”, said James Gunn.

Did you already know this or did we just break your heart with this news?

Check out James Gunn’s tweets about it below.

First Groot is dead. Baby Groot is his son.
