Get To Know: Crypitus

get-to-know-crypitus

As we’re nearing the end of the year, we’d love to introduce you to some smaller bands who haven’t gotten as much attention this year, but are just as worthy of it as your favourite bands. One of those bands is Crypitus, a Thrash Metal band all the way from Russia. We had a lovely chat with the guys and we’ll leave the introduction to them:

Who are you guys?

Joe: We are Crypitus, thrash metal band from Rutland, Vt.
Pete: We are Crypitus, nestled in the mountains of Vermont. I’m Pete, I play guitar.
Zach: Hi I’m Zach. I play drums..
Doug: I’m Doug and I scream and thrash about with a guitar.

How would you describe your music in five words?

Joe: Thrash, metal, proggy, super awesome.
Pete: Thrashy, energetic, proggy, moshy, epic.
Zach: Slighty progressive psychedelic thrash metal
Doug: Blackened Backwoods Progressive Thrash Metal.

Which artists have you taken inspiration from?

Joe: I took a lot of inspiration from old Metallica, System of a down, and Primus.
Pete: Animals as Leaders, Megadeth, Mastodon, Between the Buried and Me.
Zach: Between the Buried and Me is my biggest influence, but Blotted Science has been feeding my brain waves lately as well.
Doug: Death and Megadeth and two big influences on my music.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Joe: There hasn’t been much challenges since I joined the band besides learning the songs.
Pete: Finding a bass player was a big challenge.
Zach: Keeping a damn bassist!
Doug: Being so far away from all the cities hahaha.

What’s been your biggest accomplishment so far?

Joe: There hasn’t been much challenges since I joined the band besides learning the songs.
Pete: We have a demo out now and we got to play with Psychostick. That was pretty awesome.
Zach: I’d say just all the awesome shows we’ve got to play. Also were steamingly proud of our little demo too! Check it out!
Doug: Definitely the release of the demo! Check is out at Crypitus.com

What’s the best piece of advice that you’ve been given?

Joe: Practice makes perfect.
Pete: “Find a bass player.”
Zach: A very wise woman once told me to always keep a jar of marbles in your house. Always know where they are. Cause what are you going to do if you lose all yer marbles?
Doug: Strive to be who you are.

Three artists to be compared to?

Pete: Enemy of the State, Graviton, Between the Buried and Me.
Zach: Death, Mega Dave, and we’ve heard Voivod before too.
Doug: Death Angel, Voivod, Death.

What’s the next step?

Joe: Conquering the world.
Pete: Some more shows to finish off the year and then a break to tighten up and maybe record some stuff.
Zach: World domination. One city at a time…
Doug: Stay tuned…
