Corey Taylor, known as the frontman of Slipknot and Stone Sour, has written a book called ‘America 51’ about America’s culture and society as well as its problems in this day and age.

Recently, The Guardian has published a piece by Taylor touching on some of the subjects addressed in his book including topics such as the environment, artificial intelligence, Spotify, toxic masculinity, dating apps and fear of Donald Trump.

Starting off with politics, Corey Taylor expresses his opinion on Donald Trump as a president, celebrities running for political offices, toxic masculinity and the oppression and discrimination against women and the LGBTQ community and comes to the conclusion: “I grew up seeing some serious shit go down. But I don’t think the country has been this divided since the 1960s.”

Taylor also has a lot to say about the modern ways of communication, particularly about dating apps, which he thinks are “gross”, phone addiction and streaming services like Spotify, as a result of which the music industry of today is “like the wild west”.

In his article, Taylor also focuses on the way we discuss and deal with saving the environment, quoting George Carlin: “The planet is fine, the people are fucked.” and suggesting that instead of worrying about the environment, one should “worry about your own side of things”.

When it comes to music as a whole, Taylor speaks out about his views on pop and hip-hop as well as the appropriation of metal culture which he thinks is worrying.

You can read the piece with all its topics and the full amount of details here.

And if you agree or are interested in reading more of the sort, Corey Taylor’s book “America 51” might be something for you.
