Mike Flanagan To Direct Stephen King’s ‘The Life of Chuck’ Starring Tom Hiddleston & Mark Hamill

According to Deadline, renowned horror filmmaker Mike Flanagan is set to direct the upcoming movie adaptation of Stephen King‘s short story, The Life of Chuck. The film will be produced by Intrepid Pictures and is set to star Tom Hiddleston as Chuck Krantz and Mark Hamill as Albie.

Flanagan is no stranger to King’s work, having previously directed the adaptations of Gerald’s Game and Doctor Sleep. This new film will be based on a short story from King’s 2020 anthology If It Bleeds. The Life of Chuck is a collection of three separate stories linked together to tell the biography of Charles Krantz in reverse. The story starts with Krantz’s death at the age of 39 due to a brain tumor and ends with his childhood in a supposedly haunted house.

The movie promises to draw inspiration from some of King’s most iconic works, including Stand By Me, The Shawshank Redemption, and The Green Mile. The genre project is expected to blend horror, drama, and mystery to create an unforgettable viewing experience for audiences.

Hiddleston, best known for his role as Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will play the titular role of Chuck, while Hamill, famous for his portrayal of Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise, will play the character of Albie.

In addition to directing, Flanagan will also write the script for the film. The project marks the latest collaboration between Flanagan and Netflix, who recently adapted another King short story, Mr. Harrigan’s Phone (also taken from If It Bleeds), for their streaming platform.

Fans of Stephen King and horror enthusiasts alike are eagerly anticipating the release of The Life of Chuck. With an acclaimed director at the helm and a talented cast on board, the film promises to be a thrilling and chilling addition to the world of Stephen King adaptations.
