CONCERT REVIEW: Motionless In White Outdo Themselves During Sold-Out Tilburg Show

Motionless In White continue to ride the wave of popularity since the release of Scoring The End Of The World with another headliner tour through Europe, with support from Fit For A King and Brand of Sacrifice. Luckily for us, this tour includes a stop in The Netherlands, and so, last night we witnessed Motionless In White taking their game to a brand new level.

For us, the night started with Fit For A King. From the first crushing breakdown to the final, anthemic chorus, the Texas-based band commanded attention. Vocalist Ryan Kirby’s guttural screams and soaring cleans were perfectly balanced, delivering the kind of raw emotion and precision that has become their signature. Tracks like The End and “Breaking the Mirror” had the pit moving, while When Everything Means Nothing saw fans passionately singing along.

Even as an opener, Fit For A King commanded a strong presence. Their lighting setup and visuals—though understandably scaled down compared to the headliner—added to the intensity, creating a fitting atmosphere for their heavy-hitting setlist. Effortlessly, Fit For A King did a solid job warming up the crowd for the main act. By the time they closed out their set, the pit was in full force, and even those in the back seemed locked in. In addition, the band revealed to be back early next year with a tour of their own to support the release of their upcoming record. Exciting times ahead!

For us, Fit For A King‘s performance warming up the crowd for headliner Motionless In White was a reminder of why they are one of the leading acts in the metalcore scene today. Their ability to deliver a powerful, high-energy show while maintaining a connection with their audience is a rare and commendable talent. For fans of the genre, this was a set to remember, and for those experiencing the band for the first time, it was a compelling introduction to what Fit For A King is all about. Fit For A King have a signature catchy chorus, so chances are they have made some new fans in the audience today.

After the band’s two sold-out performances in Melkweg Amsterdam last year, it was finally time for Motionless In White to headline Tilburg’s Poppodium 013, with a capacity of 3000 fans which sold out months in advance.

From the moment the lights dimmed, it was evident that this was not just another metalcore show but a full-fledged production, which for the European fans was a welcome change. The back of the stage was dominated by three massive LED screens, which alternated between eerie visuals, thematic backdrops, and live camera footage of the band members. This feature allowed fans, even those in the back of the packed venue, to get close-up perspectives of Chris Motionless and the rest of the group as they tore through their set.

But the visual component didn’t stop there. Throughout the evening, a troupe of dancers made several appearances, each time clad in new, elaborate costumes that matched the tone of the songs being performed, their presence amplified the overall intensity of the show.

While Motionless In White has an extensive discography spanning nearly two decades, their setlist leaned heavily on their most recent release, Scoring The End Of The World. Tracks like Meltdown, Sign of Life, and Werewolf were performed with remarkable precision and were met with overwhelming enthusiasm from the crowd, with Slaughterhouse even bringing on Fit For A King frontman Ryan Kirby on stage to take on the vocals of Knocked Loose’s Bryan Garris. Besides the many songs from the band’s most recent album, the 2017 album Graveyard Shift was also very heavily showcased this evening with 6 songs on the setlist being from this album. Even 8 years later, songs like Soft, Rats and of course, Voices remain to be fan favourites.

Motionless In White‘s trajectory is undeniably upward, and with the success of their sold-out show at Poppodium 013, it wouldn’t be surprising to see them headlining larger clubs or even arenas after another successful album. Their show at Poppodium 013 was more than just a performance; it was an experience. The intricate visual elements, theatrical stage presence, and well-balanced setlist is something to look forward to on their current tour. We cannot wait for the band to be back and you can check out photos from the performance in the gallery below.

CONCERT REVIEW: Motionless In White Play Amsterdam Show(s) In-Between Festival Shows

While touring Europe for various festival appearances, Motionless In White announced a few headlining shows in select European cities. Fans were thrilled to learn that the band would be performing not just one, but two shows at Amsterdam’s Melkweg. These shows, unsurprisingly, sold out quickly, reflecting the band’s growing popularity.

For those who couldn’t attend either of the Amsterdam dates, there’s good news. Motionless In White will return to the Netherlands early next year for a performance at Poppodium 013, a venue with a capacity of 3,000. This upcoming show marks the band’s largest headlining event in the Netherlands to date, and like the previous shows, tickets sold out rapidly. The band’s rising status in the music scene is clear.

At these more intimate performances, Motionless In White opted for a minimalistic stage setup, featuring a classic banner displaying the artwork from their latest album, Scoring The End Of The World. This approach was an interesting choice over the more modern digital displays commonly used by bands today.

Though Motionless In White have enjoyed popularity since their early albums, it’s evident that their fame has surged with the release of Disguise, a trend that continued with Scoring The End of The World. Consequently, their setlist heavily featured tracks from their recent work, while also including fan-favourite older songs like Reincarnate, Break The Cycle (2014), and Devil’s Night (2012). Additionally, the crowd responded enthusiastically to their cover of Somebody Told Me by The Killers.

Given the band’s packed festival schedule, the headlining shows were relatively simple, as is often the case with performances slotted between larger events. These smaller shows, however, offered a refreshing change of pace, allowing the band to connect directly with an audience that was there solely to see them. Frontman Chris Motionless engaged the crowd with casual conversations, banter among the band members, and graciously accepting gifts from fans.

Motionless In White‘s trajectory is undeniably upward, and with the success of their sold-out show at Poppodium 013, it wouldn’t be surprising to see them headlining larger clubs or even arenas after another successful album.
