The debate of what is the scariest movie ever has been going on for a long time and with every year there are more horror movies added to the list, it will probably be going on for a long time in the future as well.

However, The Science Of Scare Project had done a scientific study, where they gathered 50 individuals who watched over 120 hours of the best and scariest horror movies and they have found the scariest movie according to people’s heart rates.

They recorded the heart rates as the participants watched 50 different movies and Blumhouse’s ‘Sinister’ from 2012 made it to number 1.

The rest of the top 10, with ‘Insidious’ at number 2 having the most amount of jump scares by heart rate, consists of

  1. ‘The Conjuring’
  2. ‘Hereditary’
  3. ‘Paranormal Activity’
  4. ‘It Follows’
  5. ‘The Conjuring 2’
  6. ‘The Babadook’
  7. ‘The Descent’
  8. ‘The Visit’.
