Tyler Joseph Announces End Of ‘Scaled And Icy’ Era For Twenty One Pilots

Frontman Tyler Joseph has announced on his Instagram that the Scaled And Icy era is officially over for twenty one pilots.

He revealed that it was hard for them to make and release a record in a time without live shows as they usually write songs to play them live, and “never the other way around”.

So, they created an album that never existed in a concert setting. Until it did.

“71 shows and 14 countries later, scaled and icy became something different. the lyrics meant something different, something more, the colors found their purpose, the chords rubbed together differently. the record came to life. it was confirmed: this band and these specific songs needed live music.”

He ends his statement with “and that concludes ψ”, revealing that the band is not going to continue touring this album cycle.

Scaled And Icy was released on the 21st of May, 2021 in the midst of the pandemic. The band worked hard to still connect with their fans and that showed in the ‘livestream experience’ they did, promoting the record.

Earlier this year, the livestream was taken to the big screen, the ‘cinema experience’, showing 20 minutes of never-before-seen footage with remixed and remastered audio and video.

Luckily, in an interview with Kerrang that happened before Scaled And Icy even came out, the duo talked about how there is already more new music.

So, hopefully we don’t have to wait too long for the new era!

Are you sad that the era is over or does the excitement for what’s to come prevail?
