A Texas Christian church, the WoodsEdge Community Chruch, is using Twenty One Pilots songs for their preaching.

They say that “the meanings and parables found in the band’s songs can be tied to the Gospel”.

On the church’s website you can find more about their reason for using the duo’s discography:

The sermon, created by Pastor Justin Ulmer, examines the lyrics of twenty one pilots songs and focuses on what it means to repent. WoodsEdge Community Church believes that this is also a common theme in the band’s lyricism.

“To repent means to change the way you think.”, which is the band’s mission statement as well.

“What sets Josh & Tyler apart from other bands is that they meet their audience where they are, as they are, and they let them know: ‘We get you. We care about you, and once their audience feels loved by them, they can slowly challenge them to consider a new way of thinking, a new way of feeling, and a new way of living.”

Check out one of the church’s sermons with the band’s “Nico and the Niners” below.
