Gerard Way, known for his multifaceted career as both the lead vocalist of My Chemical Romance and a celebrated comic book author, is gearing up to captivate audiences once again with a new horror-themed comic book series titled Paranoid Gardens. This latest venture is set to unfold later this year, promising to merge Way‘s signature storytelling prowess with a chilling narrative backdrop.

According to Deadline, it is scheduled for release by Dark Horse Comics on July 17th, Paranoid Gardens marks another collaborative milestone between Way and co-writer Shaun Simon. The duo, known for their creative synergy, previously joined forces on The Umbrella Academy spinoff You Look Like Death, as well as The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys: National Anthem, an expansion of the narrative world introduced in My Chemical Romance‘s Danger Days album. Adding to the series’ anticipated success is the involvement of artist Chris Weston, whose task will be to bring the hauntingly beautiful and eerie world of Paranoid Gardens to life through his illustrations.

Gerard Way expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “I’m excited to be back with my incredibly handsome and talented brother-from-another-basement Shaun Simon penning a story that’s really special to us, and honored the masterful Chris Weston joined us to create a visually powerful and emotionally tangible physical object that is this comic. I’m now more complete getting to share something we’ve wanted to for a very long time, and working with this fantastic group of individuals in the process.”

“Loo is a nurse at the most bizarre care center around. The staff are not entirely human, and the cases are downright unearthly. Aliens, ghosts, superheroes and more creatures plague its hallways as doctors and patients and the hospital itself seem to be somewhat self-aware. Loo believes that despite a recent failure at her job she’s been given some sort of higher calling in this mysterious place and decides to rise to the challenge. Along the way, she must fight her way through corrupt staff members, powerful theme park cults and her own personal demons and trauma to meet this challenge and discover what secrets the gardens hold.”
