CONCERT REVIEW: Halestorm Unleash The Force In Amsterdam
Halestorm brought their nEVEREST tour to AFAS Live in Amsterdam on Tuesday, November 18th, 2025, unleashing a high-octane set that had the crowd roaring from the first note. Indian metal outfit Bloodywood kicked off the night at AFAS Live with a fierce, high-energy set that mixed heavy riffs with folk elements and had the early arrivals fully fired up and ready.
When Halestorm took the stage, they wasted no time. Their set kicked off with a dramatic white curtain drop, revealing Lzzy Hale and the band to a wave of applause. Lzzy’s commanding vocals cut through immediately, backed by Joe Hottinger’s sharp guitar riffs, Josh Smith’s solid bass lines, and Arejay Hale’s powerful drumming. They dove right in with Fallen Star from the new Everest album, followed by I Miss the Misery and Love Bites (So Do I), then ramped up the nostalgia with a cover of Perry Mason by Ozzy Osbourne as a tribute.
The band had the venue locked in tight, with fans belting out lyrics, headbanging, and feeding off the shared vibe—like one big rock family packed into the space. It wasn’t a full house, but that didn’t slow Halestorm down; they fired off hit after hit without missing a beat. The stage setup nodded straight to the Everest theme, with large claw props on the sides, stacked Marshall amps behind the guitars, and a frosty staircase backdrop straight from the album art, making the tour’s focus crystal clear.
Halestorm mixed technical skill with crowd-pleasing fire all night. Lzzy and Joe traded smiles and riffs side by side, while Arejay kept the groove locked with precise hits, building to a standout drum solo that had the crowd on their feet, and the occasional drumstick toss into the air. Quieter moments added depth too—like during How Will You Remember Me?, where a fan in front of me hugged her friends through the whole track, or Lzzy’s intense, kneeling delivery of a Familiar Taste of Poison snippet, chalice in hand for that extra dramatic edge.
The set flowed smoothly between peaks and valleys. Darkness Always Wins brought a reflective breather, with phone lights lighting up the crowd like a gentle wave. Then they cranked it back up for Freak Like Me, getting everyone moving and shouting along to Lzzy’s call of “We are not going home tonight!” Tracks like the theatrical Mz. Hyde fit right in, showing off the band’s range from heavy grooves to melodic flair.
The encore sealed the deal with heartfelt punch: Shiver started things off on an emotional note, I Am the Fire lit up the room with fiery visuals and raised horns from the floor, and Here’s to Us closed it out after the band raised shots in a quick toast to the fans. Guitar picks and drumsticks flew into the crowd as the lights came up, sending everyone out buzzing.
Halestorm once again showed why they’re a standout in the rock scene, blending Lzzy’s killer voice, airtight playing from the whole crew, and that genuine connection with the audience into a show that’s hard to top.
