CONCERT REVIEW: Alice Cooper Rocks Amsterdam Like Only He Can
On Monday, July 28th, 2025, Alice Cooper and his band took over a packed AFAS Live in Amsterdam as part of his Too Close for Comfort tour. On the way to the venue, it was already clear this was a multi-generational crowd: parents with teenage kids, long-time fans in vintage merch — all ready to see their idol once more.
The show kicked off around 8:15 PM with a theatrical opening. Two mysterious men walked onstage ringing bells. Behind them hung a massive curtain styled like a newspaper that read: ‘The Holland Times – Banned in Holland! Alice Cooper.’” Suddenly, Alice slashed the curtain open with a knife and made his dramatic entrance. The night opened with Lock Me Up, Welcome to the Show, and No More Mr. Nice Guy.
From the very first moment, Alice showed why he’s been a showman his entire life. The crowd was hooked, and when Poison started, the venue erupted.
The setlist leaned heavily on fan favorites and classics, which seemed to be exactly what the audience wanted. During Ballad of Dwight Fry, Alice appeared in a straitjacket and was repeatedly ‘tasered’ by a masked figure. It was one of many theatrical scenes throughout the night.
Sheryl Cooper, Alice’s wife, made several appearances. In one scene, dressed as a Marie Antoinette-like character, she placed Alice in a guillotine and ‘beheaded’ him. She then danced across the stage with his severed head. This was a gruesome yet iconic moment, true to the spirit of Alice’s shock rock roots.
The band sounded tight and energetic, clearly enjoying themselves on stage. They played off each other well and kept the crowd engaged. Alice threw his signature canes into the audience, a fan favorite every show.
As the show neared its end, balloons filled with confetti were released into the venue. When they reached the stage, Alice popped them with his knife, one by one.
For the encore, the band paid tribute to the recently deceased Ozzy Osbourne with a cover of Paranoid. The final song of the night was Feed My Frankenstein, complete with a massive Frankenstein monster puppet, thick clouds of smoke, bubbles, foam, and one last appearance from Sheryl.
The applause just kept going, and rightfully so. Alice Cooper once again showed why he’s a living legend.
