CONCERT REVIEW: Chase Atlantic’s Triumphant Return To Bigger Venues, Bolder Shows In Amsterdam
Chase Atlantic returned to Europe after a two-year period of absence, showcasing their remarkable growth by performing at significantly larger venues compared to their previous tour. For context, their last European appearance in Utrecht’s TivoliVredenburg drew 2,000 fans, whereas this time, the Australian trio nearly sold out two shows at Amsterdam’s AFAS Live, each attracting 5,500 attendees. Known for their genre-blending sound, which merges elements of pop, R&B, and alternative, the band has cultivated a dedicated fanbase, with younger female fans forming the majority of the enthusiastic crowd at AFAS Live.
The band’s production quality has noticeably improved since their last tour. While they opted not to use confetti or pyrotechnics, they incorporated striking visuals that enhanced their performance. Chase Atlantic maintained a fast-paced set, delivering 20 songs in just 90 minutes. Brief moments of crowd interaction punctuated the relentless flow of music, allowing the band to connect with their fans without slowing the momentum. Their setlist leaned heavily on their latest album, Lost in Heaven, but also included a generous selection of older tracks. Songs like Swim and Friends, which have recently surged in popularity due to social media trends, were met with particularly fervent responses, reflecting the band’s growing cultural impact.
The setlist spanned the band’s discography, offering a balanced mix of newer material and fan favourites from earlier eras. The audience’s enthusiasm was palpable, with fans singing along so loudly that the band’s vocals were occasionally drowned out. This energy underscored the strong connection between Chase Atlantic and their supporters, many of whom seemed to know every lyric by heart.
One area for improvement was the occasional reliance on pre-recorded backing tracks, which at times overshadowed the live vocals. While this didn’t detract significantly from the experience, it was noticeable in quieter moments when the balance tipped toward the recorded elements.
Overall, the performance was a testament to Chase Atlantic’s upward trajectory. The leap in venue size, coupled with enhanced production, signals their ambition and growing prominence in the music scene. While the show didn’t break new ground, it was a polished and energetic display of their evolution as a band. Fans excitedly left the venue, already anticipating the group’s next European tour. Given their current momentum, Chase Atlantic’s return to the Netherlands promises to be an even bigger spectacle.
