Lowlands Review: Eagles Of Death Metal

lowlands-review-eagles-of-death-metal

The third day of Lowlands was a wet one! Sunshine and heavy rain fall rotated and as the day progressed, the festival grounds became muddier and muddier. Of course that did not stop the 55.000 festival go-ers from having a great time so the atmosphere was just as warm and welcoming as the previous days. It was also a day filled with rock bands. To top it all off, the day ended for everyone who didn’t want to see LCD Soundsystem with the brutal metalcore from Australian legends Parkway Drive. Bottomline, it was going to be another wonderful day at Biddinghuizen!

The day started once again on the mainstage to witness Eagles of Death Metal. Before EODM took the stage, a comedian was on that same very stage. Of course a few jokes had to be made about the horror that happened at the EODM gig last year in Paris. At this point it’s difficult to not let your mind wander off to the horror. Luckily, there was no sensible tension. The fact that the band is back on stage and once again having a lot of fun, is very admirable. ‘Fun’ was the keyword of this performance. Frontman Jesse Hughes was awkwardly dancing around on stage, many plectrums were thrown in the stage and at the end they even smashed a guitar. This performance was the definition of some old fashion rock ‘n roll!
